Special Commissions
Special Commissions are a great opportunity to set in motion your ideas and wishes and materialize them through my hands and expertise. It is a wonderful design collaboration to help you create a unique piece of jewelry.
Keep in mind that I only take custom orders for pieces made of materials I am currently using. Read more about the materials I use here.
The process is simple:
Meet and Chat. We have a virtual or in person meeting over a coffee or a glass of wine, to make sure we are the right fit for each other. Whether you have an exact image in your mind, or a vague idea of what you want, this is the time to refine the piece’s details including concept, motifs, colors, size, as well as time-frame and budget if you have those set.
At this stage, I let you know if I am able to design and make the jewelry for you. Once we’ve decided on a concept and refined the details, we move to stage 2.
Contract and Deposit. Although we discussed the project, I wait until you officially place the order to start working on your design. At this stage, we both sign a contract that outlines the piece’s details, delivery date, price, etc. At the same time, you pay a 50% deposit.
Take your time to think about the project before placing your order. Once I receive your deposit and start making your jewelry, the order cannot be cancelled.
Drawing for Approval. Based on our initial conversation, I create studio sketches to give you an idea of what to expect for the final product. The sketches can be in the form of hand drawings or made with CAD software, depending on the complexity of the piece and the processes I will follow to make your jewelry.
At this stage, we can tweak and improve the design until you are happy with it. You can make up to 5 revisions to the design before I start making the jewelry. I only start making a piece of jewelry after you approve the final design.
Making your Jewelry. My favorite part. In this stage, I use the approved drawing and specifications as my guide to make your jewelry. Once the piece is finished, I send you the actual pictures of the piece.
You can contact me at any time during this stage to check on progress.
Delivery. Your favorite part. Now that your jewelry is ready, I send you pictures and the final invoice. Once I receive the full payment, your jewelry will be on its way to you.
Follow Up. This special commission is not over once you receive your jewelry! Hopefully we have both gone through such a fun and rewarding process that it’s worth keeping in touch.
I love receiving pictures of you wearing your jewelry, or hear how the end user liked it, if the piece wasn’t for you. Let’s keep in touch!
